Port Nelson
Port Nelson at the northern end of the South Island of New Zealand provides a modern, worksafe port infrastructure with comprehensive facilities and services to shipping lines 24 hours a day.
In addition to a roll on – roll off facility, the Port Company has 3 lay-up berths, capable of taking vessels up to 110m. The draft is 8m at lay-up berth No.1, 6.5m at Lay-up berth No.2, and 5.5m at Lay-up No.3 These berths are adjacent to flat reclaimed land with covered storage, bunkering facilities, and space for major repair and renewal operations.
Engineering Nelson will call upon its vast networks to search for and secure specialist skills for a project, world wide if necessary. At times Engineering Nelson will subcontract aspects of a project while taking responsibility for quality and delivery. This ensures overhead costs are minimal, while providing the client with quality assurance.
Port Nelson is Australasia’s largest fishing port. The Sealord and Talleys Group of companies are based here. The port provides deep-water berthage for large ocean going trawlers that regularly enter the port.
